The Department of Management in the Bryan School of Business & Economics at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) invites applications for one (1) full-time opening in the Human Resource Management (HRM) area. The position will commence on August 1, 2023, at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track). Screening of applicant materials will begin immediately, and some applicants will be invited to participate in screening interviews at the Academy of Management Meeting in Seattle, so early application is encouraged.

Applicants should hold a PhD degree from an AACSB or EQUIS accredited business school in HRM or in Business Administration or Management with a focus on HRM. The Department is interested in candidates with related teaching experience at the university level and evidence of successful high-quality refereed journal scholarship. The ability to tie one’s teaching and research to the School’s mission elements (problem solving, innovation, globalization, sustainability and ethics) will be view positively. ABDs with exceptional records who are assured of completion by August 1, 2023, may be considered. The selected candidates must be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in HRM using in-person and both synchronous and asynchronous online formats.

The Department of Management offers four-degree programs. At the undergraduate level it offers degrees in International Business and Business Administration. The latter has majors in Business Studies (in-person and online), HRM (in-person and online in Fall 2023), and Management. At the graduate level it offers an online Master of Science in International Business, including a new concentration and certificate in HRM expected in Fall 2023, and an online PhD in Business Administration (with concentrations in International Business, Organizational Behavior, and Strategic Management) with the 4th Cohort starting in Fall of 2022. The Department also contributes to delivering the undergraduate business core and the MBA program. The faculty members in the Department are very active in research and in the past five years have published in such journals as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Learning & Education, Harvard Business Review, Human Relations, Industrial & Organizational Psychology, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management, Journal of Management Studies, Leadership Quarterly, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, and Strategic Management Journal, to name a few.

The Bryan School has approximately 3,700 undergraduate and graduate students and more than 126 full- and part-time faculty members housed in six departments. More than 52 percent of the Bryan School’s students are from underrepresented ethnic groups (UREG) and 53 percent are women. The Bryan School takes great pride in being one of the most diverse business schools in the UNC system. UNCG has a history as the women’s college of the UNC system, has been designated a Minority Serving Institution (MSI), and is the top performer for social mobility in North Carolina, according to U.S. News and World Report. Additionally, approximately 26 percent of all faculty are from UREG and 43 percent of the school’s faculty are women. The school is committed to the continued growth of these percentages. Accredited in both business and accounting by AACSB, the Bryan School is the recipient of many rankings, honors, and accolades. The faculty and students are both impressive. For example, in 20219 our tenure stream faculty members averaged 2.9 peer reviewed journal articles published or accepted (19 in 12 different FT50 journals), plus 23 others in A or A+ journals, published 12 books, and 15 book chapters.

Greensboro is the third largest city in NC with approximately 291,000 people in a CSA of some 1.7 million. Ideally located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina, Greensboro is only a few hours from either beach or mountain. The city boasts a rapidly developing fine arts center, child friendly venues and a multitude of outdoor amenities. With seven higher education institutions in the immediate area, a large industrial base, and proximity to the Research Triangle and Charlotte, it is an attractive location for dual career families.
