The Telfer School of Management invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Health Care Management and Leadership at the rank of Associate or Full Professor commencing on July 1st, 2024, or earlier. This position also includes a Professorship in Health Care Management and Leadership from The Ottawa Hospital (TOH).
Title of Position: Professor in Health Care Management and Leadership. The rank is commensurate with experience.
Terms: Tenure-track position, including the appointment of a Professorship for a five-year (5) renewable term with The Ottawa Hospital (TOH).
Duties: Duties will include in varying proportions: research, teaching and academic service activities.
Research activities: Applications are invited from candidates with a proven strong capacity in securing competitive research funding, and who can maintain lofty standards of excellence with an active research agenda in health care management and leadership as demonstrated in high-quality publications. The candidate will be expected to engage in “research with impact” as well as in a privileged relationship with The Ottawa Hospital, the largest Canadian academic health sciences centre.
Teaching activities include: i) strengthening quality teaching activities; ii) having excellent pedagogical practices and teaching-related scholarly activities; iii) providing an active contribution to increase our undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs such as the Master of Health Administration, Master of Science in Health Systems, and the Health Systems area of the PhD program, and interdisciplinarity and iv) supervising graduate students.
Academic service activities: The candidate will be an active member of the Marketing / OB-HR section. Administrative duties will be agreed upon with the section and the Dean.

The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrated expertise pertaining to the unique challenges facing today’s health care leaders. The candidate will have a passion for addressing these challenges by engaging in impactful research and enthusiastic teaching as well as will have a strategic vision for the future of healthcare leadership. Moreover, the candidate will support the growth and expansion of our evidence-based graduate and executive programs aimed at equipping health care leaders with the skills and competencies they need to take action and improve health care for all. The candidate will have an interest in providing leadership to our graduate programs in health, be active in establishing strategic partnerships (particularly within The Ottawa Hospital) and have an interest in our executive education. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in developing new curriculums and leading academic programs, as well as those who have been involved in the delivery of executive education in health care.

Education: Ph.D. in or equivalent in Management, Business Administration, Psychology, Public Health or in a related discipline.
Language: English and/or French. At the time of tenure, a minimum passive knowledge of the other official language is required. The ability to speak and teach in both official languages is an asset.
Work experience: A high-potential research program as demonstrated by articles published in high-quality and high-impact peer-reviewed journals in health care management, health care leadership, and related areas. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a track record of success in attracting competitive research funding and an active engagement in the academic community, developing collaborative relationships and ongoing partnerships with leaders and stakeholders in health care, and teaching innovative courses on topics related to health care management.
