Under the direction of the Dean and the Associate Dean, the Lecturer or Assistant Professor is responsible for providing academic instruction to students for the assigned undergraduate and/or graduate courses. The Lecturer or Assistant Professor is to serve as an academic mentor to students; serve on faculty or university committees. The Assistant Professor is to engage in scholarly activities and/or creative endeavors.
The Sports Management program at California Lutheran University is one of the fastest growing majors at the university and is in the top five in overall undergraduate enrollment for the 2023/2024 academic year. In addition, it is one of five California Sports Management programs housed in a business/management school, and possesses the highest ranking amongst these institutions. According to Marketcast research, over 2,000 senior level sport executives expressed that the most important factor in selecting a Sports Management program is that it’s part of a business/management school. Moreover, California Lutheran University is well-positioned in the Los Angeles and California regional market with solidified partnerships with the Los Angeles Rams, Angel City FC, and the Los Angeles Sports and Entertainment Commission to name a few. These unique partnerships provide exceptional experiential learning opportunities of site visits, mentorship, and exclusive internship/volunteer opportunities direct to our student population. Also, the program offers a specialized curriculum with hands-on applicable projects with surrounding sport organizations via consultancy projects and student business proposal competitions, enhancing their preparedness as the next wave of aspiring sport professionals.
For the position at the rank of Assistant Professor, a doctoral degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in Sports Management or a closely related field is required. ABD will also be considered. For the position at the rank of Lecturera Master’s Degree from an accredited institution with an emphasis in Sports Management or a closely related field is required.
