About School of Science, Engineering & Technology (SSET)
SSET at RMIT Vietnam is closely affiliated with the sciences, engineering, computing technologies and health and medical sciences (STEM) of RMIT University Melbourne, delivering the College’s award programs and developing research in the fields of science, engineering, and health. Programs currently taught on the Vietnam campus include the Bachelor of Information Technology, Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics), Bachelor of Engineering (Software Engineering), Bachelor of Engineering (Robotics & Mechatronics) and the Doctor of Philosophy (Engineering) (Electrical & Electronics Engineering). SSET is a critical part of RMIT Vietnam in influencing the development of the region and RMIT’s position as the regional leader in STEM, and its impact on the surrounding communities.
The role
RMIT Vietnam is seeking an international leader to be Dean of SSET. The Dean will be a visionary, enthusiastic leader who will build the vision for the School aligned with RMIT’s Knowledge with Action Strategy, and progress the school in that strategic direction. The Dean will need to drive a culture of engagement in the school, and build capability through leadership development, fostering and growing talent.
As a visionary leader, the Dean should be able to inspire faculty and staff with their vision, creating a positive and collaborative environment.
The Dean will bring a strategic mindset to take the school to the next level of evolution in line with strategic direction and will be a strong leader who will build people capability and talent pipeline in school leadership team and across different disciplines.
The Dean of SSET will lead the school as a senior academic and a visionary leader with an ability to create industry partnerships and networks as well as leverage the current networks and resources to enhance school’s growth potential, operationalising School’s strategic aims and objectives. The Dean of School will lead high level engagements with relevant industries, government departments and represent RMIT University in public events as well as alumni of RMIT University to ensure the School is well connected to the community.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Visionary leadership: Ability to provide strong and visionary leadership to the school to maximise student experience and staff teaching outcomes as well as to build a strong pipeline of future leaders. Working with senior colleagues drive the ongoing development of the academic profile of the campus in education and research, growth in student numbers and enhancement of the student experience especially in the areas of work integrated learning and student mobility.
Collaboration and Networking: A dean should foster collaboration and networking within and outside the university. They should build relationships with industry partners, other academic institutions, alumni, and community organisations to promote research opportunities, internships, and potential collaborations.
Inclusivity and Diversity: A dean should value and promote inclusivity and diversity within the school. They should strive to create an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and fosters a sense of belonging for all students, faculty, and staff.
Strategic mindset: Strong ability to lead and progress the school strategically and in line with RMIT Vietnam’s ambition and focus.
Innovative teaching and learning. Demonstrated experience of fostering a culture of academic excellence to provide a quality, student-centred, learning and teaching environment that represents international leading practice.
Planning and operational leadership. Provide academic and professional leadership by contributing to strategic direction setting, policy and planning processes of the School, the College of Business and RMIT Vietnam through participating in relevant School, College and RMIT Vietnam forums, committees and associated projects
Management. Provide strategic management of the School and coordinate its day-to-day management of and contribute to the academic management in the context of external landscape, strategic direction, plans and budgets.

The role located is Ho Chi Minh city or Hanoi, Vietnam,?is open for both local and expatriate candidates.
If you are an expatriate candidate, you will require a work permit to work in Vietnam.? To qualify for a work permit you will need (at minimum) a degree in a relevant field to the position and must be able to provide official written confirmation (statement of service) of at least 3 years’ senior management related experience.?
English Proficiency
English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (Academic) with a score of at least 7.0 with no band less than 6.5.
