Basic Function: Under the direction of the Dean and Associate Deans, the Assistant Professor is responsible for providing academic instruction to students for the assigned courses. The Assistant Professor is to serve as a mentor to students; contribute to school and university activities; serve on faculty or university committees; engage in scholarly activities, and/or creative endeavors.
The Assistant Professor of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is a critical role in a growing and ambitious program. The selected candidate will be a linchpin of the Center, serving as its representative and ambassador among faculty of all disciplines.
The successful candidate will bring a creative and entrepreneurial spirit to the position but be sensitive to the unique challenges of growing a community-focused program from within a university. This position requires a full teaching load and is expected to play a key role in shaping graduate and undergraduate curricula that are innovative and exemplary. We expect this candidate to share our belief that experience outside the classroom is an essential element of an innovation and entrepreneurship education.
Representative Duties: • Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses. Create assignments and activities in one-on-one, classroom, and distance mediated instructional settings for development of cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher order thinking skills among students. E • Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and student learning outcomes through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide feedback in a timely manner to student inquiries in class, online, or during established consultation office hours. E • Maintain current, accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, course curriculum; prepare and submit grades, data, and reports related to course and student progress in a timely manner. E • Provide a course syllabus to students in each class within the first week of the class, as outlined in the faculty handbook. E • Adhere to the responsibilities related to teaching, advising, service, and scholarly, professional and creative activities, as outlined in the faculty handbook. E • Attend and participate on committees and in department, division, campus, and University meetings. E • Evening and weekend hours may be required. E • Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge Of: • Innovation and entrepreneurship education techniques, such as Lean Launchpad (Blank, Stanford and UC Berkeley), Disciplined Entrepreneurship (Aulet, MIT), and Design Thinking Current theory and practice within the field of innovation and entrepreneurship • Primary responsibilities for this position include teaching innovation and entrepreneurship courses at the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) levels. E • Current theory and practice within the subject discipline • Principles and best practices of effective teaching • Student learning outcomes and methods of assessment • University curricula • Community and campus resources, services, programs, and professionals available to students • Methods of gathering, analyzing, and preparing data • Modern computing technology • Record keeping techniques with regard to student enrollment, attendance, and progress

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a Ph.D. in Business or Entrepreneurship, or Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from an accredited institution. ABD will be accepted, but will come in at the rank of Instructor.
Preferred Qualifications: Aside from a strong background in innovation and entrepreneurship, we prefer a candidate whose scholarly productivity is focused on issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Aside from teaching innovation and entrepreneurship, candidates may be asked to teach introductory and advanced courses in the School of Management business curriculum. Experience collaborating with entrepreneurs in teaching, research and professional networks. A research focus on startup communities, startup ecosystems, entrepreneurial mindset, social and sustainability innovation and entrepreneurship or diversity, equity, inclusion and justice among innovators and entrepreneurs. Experience as a practicing entrepreneur. An undergraduate degree in the arts, humanities, sciences or engineering. Personal interests and hobbies in the arts, humanities and sciences.
