Assistant Professor in Entrepreneurship College of Business University of Mary Washington Beginning August 2024
University of Mary Washington’s College of Business (COB) invites applications for TWO tenure-track positions in Entrepreneurship at the rank of Assistant professor beginning August 2024. Highly qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate dedication to effective teaching and high-impact learning. The successful candidate(s) will be able to teach a variety of entrepreneurship classes, develop new entrepreneurship curriculum, maintain an active research agenda, and be willing to co-direct the Center for Economic Development (CED).
Required qualifications:
Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship or related field (e.g., Business Administration, Management, Strategy) from an AACSB-accredited institution by August 16, 2024.
Ability to effectively teach both undergraduates and graduate (MBA) students.
Ability to teach classes such as Foundations of Entrepreneurship, Design Thinking, Feasibility Analysis, Social Entrepreneurship, or Family Business Management.
Ability to maintain an active research agenda (e.g., publishing peer-reviewed journal articles, presenting at conferences, etc.).
Willingness to teach in face-to-face, hybrid, and online modalities.
Willingness to engage with and provide leadership for the Center for Economic Development.
Preferred qualifications:
Industry experience in entrepreneurship (e.g., writing business plans, starting businesses, consulting with small businesses).
Willingness to collaboratively connect the COB to programs offered through the Center for Economic Development such as business development services, the Business Incubator, and student Business Plan Competitions.
Willingness to further develop entrepreneurship curriculum including developing new courses and expanding course offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
College of Business and Center for Economic Development:
The AACSB-accredited College of Business offers an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with majors in Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, and International Business, an MBA program, as well as a minor in Entrepreneurship. As a teaching-first institution grounded in the liberal arts and centrally located between Washington DC and Richmond, the COB develops critical thinkers who are honorable leaders and work collaboratively to innovate, solve business problems, and address societal needs. The COB offers students opportunities for internships, executive mentorships, study abroad experiences, volunteer work, and research collaboration with faculty.
The University of Mary Washington Center for Economic Development (CED) continues to grow and develop with the needs of the university and the surrounding community. The CED collaborates with business, government, education, and private parties to promote personal, professional and economic growth by advancing knowledge through entrepreneurship, small business development, innovation and competitiveness, research and analysis, and outreach and engagement. The CED provides entrepreneurial advising, management training, supportive research, immersive business incubation, and facilitates access to student and faculty talents with the broader community.
