Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) seeks nominations and applications for the position of Dean, A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business. The University is seeking an innovative Dean to provide strategic leadership for the School of Business. The desired candidate will have a proven track record of delivering results, leading change, implementing innovative solutions, developing their team and working collaboratively across a complex organization and a broad range of community partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as the chief academic and executive officer for the A.R. Sanchez, Jr. School of Business.
Serve as the chief budgeting and operating officer for the college with overall responsibility for allocating available financial, space, and other resources to support the College mission and all other aspects of college operations.
Engages in fundraising and development activities to support the vision and mission of the College.
Oversees assessment and AACSB International accreditation experience.
Leads global and local engagement, research, undergraduate and graduate education and success; faculty, staff and student development; grants and other external funding.
Directs academic and strategic planning for the College and enhances its image and brand.
Works with faculty to provide support for undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral curricular improvement and innovation.
Promotes and provides leadership and advocacy for all of the college's programs and services.
Works with the academic leadership of the University to build interdisciplinary relationships and collaborative experiences for the students and faculty.
Pursues and promotes active and mutually beneficial collaboration with stakeholders and constituents, including schools and state and local governments.
Supports high impact practices, experiential learning, and innovative pedagogy.
The position is an on-campus, 12-month position as it is expected the Dean will be a visible member of the TAMIU and Laredo communities. Required Qualifications
An earned doctoral degree in a related discipline from an accredited institution.
A distinguished record of academic leadership, research/scholarship, service, and teaching that warrants a tenured faculty position.
Excellent communication skills and a strong vision for the future development of the College.
Preferred Qualifications
Record of distinction in teaching, research and scholarly activity that is commensurate for the appointment of full professor with tenure.
At least five years of demonstrated leadership and administrative experience in a higher education setting.
Demonstrated ability to motivate stakeholders and to develop and engage in collaborative relationships.
Demonstrated ability to participate in shared governance.
A proven record of significant fundraising and major gift acquisition that will allow the College to reach its goals and objectives.
Ability to foster partnerships and programs to advance the College's and University's goals.
Demonstrated ability to enhance brand management in business or higher education.
An ability to read and speak in Spanish preferred.
High energy coupled with enthusiastic leadership abilities.
Demonstrated experience with and a commitment to AACSB accreditation.
Broad understanding of the direction of business education and research and the ability to articulate the College's vision that positions the College as a successful enterprise.
Familiarity with complex budgets and fiscal management procedures.
Possess a strong record of support for recruitment and retention of faculty and students.
Dedication to student success with a track record of outcomes assessment, student achievement, and professional development.
