The Department of Health Systems, Management and Policy in the Colorado School of Public Health invites applications for one or more tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor. We seek candidates with deep expertise in health policy, health services research, health management, and/or health economics who will advance scientific knowledge about strategies for improving health system performance, eliminating health inequities, and constraining healthcare costs. We are particularly interested in candidates who study policy-level and system-level solutions to health inequities experienced by racial and ethnic minority populations and other historically marginalized communities. Candidates who pursue research agendas focused on identifying and dismantling forms of systemic racism and injustice embedded within health and social systems are of considerable interest. Relevant areas of expertise include but are not limited to: health system organization and delivery science, value-based care models, economic evaluation, implementation science, health data science, Medicaid and Medicare policy, rural health policy, and delivery system strategies for addressing social determinants of health.
The successful candidate(s) will conduct rigorous, externally funded research that contributes to the department’s mission of health systems improvement, and will teach, advise, and mentor students in one or more of the department's graduate degree programs. Applicants should have exceptional methodological skills relevant to health services research and policy, a record of scholarly publications, and evidence of success or ability in obtaining extramural research funding. Applicants also should have strong potential for success in graduate-level teaching and student advising, with an ability to foster supportive and inclusive learning environments for students with diverse backgrounds, identities, and perspectives.
The Department is based on the University of Colorado’s modern and spacious Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC), co-located with the university’s other health professions schools, research centers and affiliated healthcare systems. AMC is located in the greater Denver metropolitan area, within easy reach of the University’s other campuses in downtown Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs. Faculty, staff and students enjoy year-round access to the Rocky Mountain region’s rich cultural and artistic resources and unrivaled outdoor adventures.
Key Responsibilities:
Publish research manuscripts in leading peer-reviewed journals.
Submit research proposals and obtain extramural funding for research.
Help policy officials, administrators, clinicians, advocates, and community representatives use research findings to improve health policies and health systems.
Qualifications:

A doctoral degree in health services research, public policy, health policy, health economics, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated potential to establish an independent, externally-funded program of research.
Demonstrated potential for successful teaching at masters and doctoral levels.
Demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse, equitable and inclusive environments for learning and discovery, including the ability to engage students and collaborators from racial and ethnic minority populations and other historically marginalized communities.
Appointment to the rank of Associate Professor or Professor requires:
A doctoral degree in health services research, public policy, health policy, health economics, or a related discipline.

Academic and scholarly accomplishments commensurate with the criteria for appointment at the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor at the University of Colorado, Colorado School of Public Health, including:
o Exceptional record of peer-reviewed research publications.
o Strong teaching evaluations and experience mentoring students.
o An established program of extramurally funded research as Principal Investigator.
o An established record of leadership & service in the fields of health policy, healthcare delivery, health services research, and/or public health practice.
Preferred qualifications at the rank of Assistant Professor include:
Experience in developing research grant applications.
Experience in publishing peer-reviewed scientific articles.
Experience in analyzing how health systems and health policies contribute to health inequities in American and/or global settings, and how policies and systems can be redesigned to make them more equitable.
Preferred qualifications at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor include:
Successful record of mentoring PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-career faculty, including individuals from under-represented and historically marginalized communities.
Experience in developing and leading multi-disciplinary research teams, large-scale research projects and center grant proposals.
Experience in analyzing how health systems and health policies contribute to health inequities in American and/or global settings, and how policies and systems can be redesigned to make them more equitable.
Experience helping policy officials, administrators, clinicians, advocates, and community representatives use research findings to improve health policies and health systems
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Successful candidates will have the ability to design and conduct rigorous, quantitative health services research and health policy research. Candidates will have expertise that enables them to teach masters and doctoral level classes on topics that include health services research methods, health policy development and analysis, health management strategies, health economics, health equity, healthcare systems, health econometrics, and/or economic evaluation methods. Candidates will have knowledge of how health systems and health policies contribute to health inequities in American and/or global settings, and how policies and systems can be redesigned to make them more equitable. We value candidates who have obtained knowledge and skills through academic training and professional experiences as well as through lived experiences related to health equity, health policy, and health systems.
